Trained as a business economist at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (MSc), and graduated as a Tax specialist. My experience ranges from Tax Consultant at EY and PWC via Head of Tax, Treasurer and Group Controller with companies like KPN and TomTom, to FD, CFO and Program Director. Over the last couple of years, I also added understanding of Cloud architectures and Cyber security to my experience.
Lots of experience with ERP programs. Both selection and implementation, and even build customised modules. Change is a constant theme in my career. Like a successful Turn-around of a building and construction company. But also have been involved in the preparation of two IPOs. Delivered a PE lead carve-out project on schedule and within budget. And even lead programs to increase Cyber Security awareness and initiated programs around Digital Transformation. I have earned millions of Euros as Head of Tax with smart international structures to save import duties and know how to manage a low, but reasonable effective tax rate for multinational groups. As Group Treasurer I have bought invaluable time with smart foreign exchange risk management structures and saved a lot of money with tough but fair negotiations with banks around new or renewed working capital and other bank facilities.
The common theme? Deliver structure, make Finance part of the end-to-end processes and facilitate to the maximum with technology and systems. That brings peace of mind, gives control and therefore manages risk and provides valuable insights.
